Visitor analytics & privacy

Last updated October 12, 2026.

I use site analytics to understand which parts of my portfolio are useful to recruiters and visitors and to improve it. You can decline optional, detailed analytics when prompted.

What is measured

My basic visitor counter uses short-lived, first-party session cookies and estimates a visitor's country and device. With your optional permission, I also log portfolio sections visited, general engagement time, résumé/contact link clicks, broad device, browser and operating-system categories, source domain, and country, region or city estimated from the network. Job-application links may contain an opaque code identifying the specific application for which I shared the link. This code does not identify the person opening it.

Visits are counted using pseudonymous session values. Full IP addresses, your name, email address, phone number, precise GPS location and detailed device fingerprints are not intentionally stored by the optional analytics database. Server infrastructure may separately process IP addresses for routing, security and short-lived rate limiting.

Your choice and retention

Optional analytics is off until you choose "Allow analytics." If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, optional analytics is not activated. Your selection stays in this browser; clear this site's local storage to choose again. Analytics event records are intended to be removed after approximately 90 days as new traffic triggers cleanup. Aggregated historic visitor totals may be retained longer.

How information is used

Only I can view detailed application analytics through an authenticated administration dashboard. Hosting and database providers process data to provide this site. A click or visit is never taken as proof that a particular employer or individual reviewed the portfolio, or that a visitor accepted or rejected an application.

Change your analytics choice

You can change your optional analytics preference at any time on this page. The change applies to future visits from this browser.
